Swiss Tournament Rules

Swiss-system tournaments give equal play time to participants, pair players with others of similar skill level, and determine a winner in as few rounds as possible. They're essentially smarter, abbreviated round robins.

	First Round

Top seeds are paired against bottom seeds. Random seeding should be used if no ranks exist. For 8 players, the pairs would be 1v5, 2v6, 3v7, and 4v8.

	Points

Teams can earn up to 11 points each game. A point will be received for each of your team’s players still on the field (up to 4 pts), how many of the oppositions players your team marks (up to 4pts), and 3 bonus points if you end the game within 5 minutes, 2 bonus points if you end the game within 10 minutes, 1 bonus point if you end the game within 15 minutes. No bonus points if both teams still have players on the field at the end of the 15 minutes. You will still be awarded points based on players marked and players remaining on field as described above.

	Additional Rounds

After each round, players are grouped by score. The top and bottom half of each group is then paired (same method as the first round), but steps are taken to ensure there are no rematches. Players float up or down between groups if necessary.
*Every team will get to play at least four games.

	Final Results

Players are ranked by score at the conclusion of the tournament, with ties broken using a final game winner by old fashioned team vs. team until only one team remains.
